real Italian comfort food

This is not a quick dinner. This is the kind of dish that stays on the stove for hours, filling the whole house.
It’s what Nonna makes when everyone is coming over—something slow, rich, and worth the wait.
Tender beef, stuffed and simmered in sauce… this is real Italian comfort food.

Ingredients (Serves about 4–6)

For the braciole
1.5–2 lbs flank steak (or top round), thinly sliced
1/2–1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan or Pecorino
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
Fresh parsley, chopped
Prosciutto (optional)
Salt & black pepper
Olive oil

For the sauce
2–3 cups crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 cup red wine
1 small onion, diced
2–3 cloves garlic
Salt & pepper

(Classic braciole is thin beef stuffed with breadcrumbs, cheese, herbs, sometimes prosciutto, then braised in tomato sauce)
