Little-known pitfalls of everyday kettle use

Although we use it all the time, few of us really understand how to get the most out of it. From limescale buildup, to overfilling the appliance, to constantly leaving it plugged in, small mistakes can shorten its lifespan or change the taste of your morning tea. Are you sure you're using your kettle correctly?

Everyday pitfalls we often overlook

Water overload.

A classic mistake! Overfilling above the “max” mark may seem convenient, but it is actually dangerous: water can overflow the spout and spray. It will also overload the automatic closing mechanism and prematurely wear out the seals. In short: only fill to the correct level.

Limestone: the silent enemy.

These often overlooked limescale deposits reduce the efficiency of your appliance, increase heat-up times and can even slightly alter the taste of your water,   making regular descaling essential (more on this below).

Small flaws that are often ignored.

A damaged cord, an unstable base, a crack… These are all signs you shouldn’t ignore. If your kettle shows any signs of weakness, it’s better to replace it than take unnecessary risks.
