HOMEMADE AUSSIE PASTIES
A few weeks ago hubby and I stopped at a local bakery and bought pasties. Well they definitely weren’t the pasties I remember from my childhood, so I decided to make my own using Nanna’s recipe. Well I tell you what, there is no comparison to between the meat and vegetable packed parcels of goodness and the lack lustre store bought. I’ve now got extras in the freezer for lunches or those nights when I just want something quick and easy to reheat
Ingredients:
Filling:
500g minced beef
1 medium onion, (Diced)
1 medium carrot, (Diced)
2 large potatoes (Diced)
1 Swede/turnip (Diced)
2 Tbsp water or stock
salt & pepper to season
Pastry:
12oz/340g plain flour
pinch salt
6oz/170g margarine/butter
3 Tbsp water
1 beaten egg or milk to glaze.
