Remove all food items and place them in a cooler or insulated bag.
Lay a towel at the bottom to absorb water.
2. Place Hot Water Inside
Put the bowl of hot water inside the freezer and close the door.
The steam will begin to loosen the ice almost immediately.
3. Wait a Few Minutes
After 5–10 minutes, open the freezer.
You’ll notice the ice starting to melt and crack.
4. Gently Remove Ice
Use a plastic spatula to carefully lift chunks of ice.
Avoid sharp tools to prevent damage.
5. Repeat if Needed
If some ice remains, replace the hot water and repeat the process.
Why This Method Works So Well
The hot steam softens the ice from the inside.
This makes it detach easily from the freezer walls.
Unlike traditional defrosting:
-
No long waiting time
-
No need to unplug
-
Less mess and effort
