Don’t let them sit too long after picking — they’ll start closing and going to seed quickly.
Avoid washing if possible
Washing can trigger the seeding process. If you must rinse them, do it very quickly and dry them right away.
Arrange properly
Place the flowers bloom side down on dehydrator trays. Leave space between them for good airflow.
Use low temperature
Set your dehydrator to around 35°C (95°F).
Low and slow is key:
- preserves beneficial compounds
- prevents flowers from turning fluffy
Drying time
Let them dry for about 8–12 hours, until they become fully crisp.
Storage
Store in an airtight container (like a mason jar), in a cool, dry place.
